Two bodies found

Police found two bodies in Kalpitiya and Grandpass on a tip-off on Monday.

Kalpitiya Police found a man's body at the Kappalkadi beach. The deceased appeared to be around 55 years, 5'3" tall, fair with bold head. Puttalam magistrate carried out investigations.

The other body was found floating in Jadi Ela between Ingurukade and Mahawatte junction in Grandpass.

The man appears to be 25 years old and was in a white T-shirt and black shorts. He was wearing a black thread around his hip. Grandpass Police are investigating.


Houses gutted

Four slum houses at Alampil, Thangapuram in Mullaitive were guttered yesterday afternoon. No one was injured.

Police said a resident of a nearby house had burnt rubbish after cleaning his garden which caused the fire.

Mullaitive Police are investigating.


Nabbed with cannabis

Welikada Police arrested two persons with 9.3 kgs of cannabis in Rajagiriya on a tip-off on Monday.

One suspect from Kataragama was arrested in Rajagiriya with 7.1 kgs of cannabis.

The other from Kirulaponne was nabbed in Obeysekarapura with the rest of the stock.

They were produced before the Aluthkade No 4 magistrate yesterday.
