242-run win for St. Servatius

St. Servatius college Matara won their under 15 division one cricket match against Rahula College by an overhelming margin of 242 runs. The match was played at the Rahula college grounds last Friday. On winning the toss St Servatius opted to bat first scoring 371 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 50 overs. Right handed batsman Ramesh Nimantha scored 152 off 107 deliveries with 16 boundaries and half a dozen hits over the ropes.

His 100 was scored in 85 balls. Chathura Jayawickrema hit a bliztering unbeaten 53 in 19 balls with five boundaries and four sixes. Together they put on 185 runs for the third wicket. Skipper Randika de Silva scored 53 off 97 balls with five boundaries.

Sarith Loku Galappaththi was the only succesful bowler for Rahula as the other three dismisals were run outs. The Rahula batsmen did not make an effort to chase down the total and were all out for 129 runs in 34.3 overs. Chathura Jayawickrema (Right arm fast) did well with the ball too capturing five wickets for 28 runs.

Rajantha Chandula took 2 for 22. Left hand opener Piruna Thilak Kumara scored 46 off 69 balls which included five boundaries while Rahula skipper Yasiru Hewanadugala chipped in with 21.

Ramesh Nimantha fielded well taking two catches but could not capture a wicket in the five owers he bowled.
