Three deminers injured

The police said three deminers attached to a Non-Governmental Organization named Halo Trust were injured in a mine explosion on Saturday in the Jaffna Peninsula. According to the Police Media Unit, a explosion occured during a mine clearing operation in Muhamalai, injuring three de-miners of the Halo Trust, a NGO which has been actively involved in mine clearance in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.

The injured, one critically, have been rushed to the Jaffna Hospital.

Since the end of the war in 2009, Halo Trust's operations in Sri Lanka have expanded rapidly to respond to the need for resettlement of displaced families in the Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu Districts.
