Tiles, cement for low income families

The Economic Development Ministry will launch a programme to provide tiles and cement among low income families to build houses, Economic Development Ministry Additional Secretary R R K A Ranawaka said.

The Additional Secretary said this programme will be implemented throughout this year. The Economic Development Ministry has drawn up plans to provide subsidies for low income families up to Rs 100,000, he said. Around 3,000 families will be provided subsidies this year, Ranawaka said.

The ministry will provide Rs 300,000,000 among low income families under this programme this year, he said. Samurdhi beneficiaries and low incoming families are the target group of this programme, he said.
