‘Political parties which advocate separatism should be rejected’ -

Political parties which talk about separatism with the aim of putting
Tamils into trouble should be rejected by all people of the country,
Jathika Nidahas Peramuna politburo member Piyasiri Wijenayake said. “The
Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is one political party which is talking
about separatism and they are trying to project Tamils as a separate
nation of Sri Lanka.
They do not accept the sovereign state concept of the government.
They are talking about devolution of power, not for a relevant
requirement. They are talking of having a self governing method through
power devolution. This has been clearly proved from the statement made
by TNA Leader R. Sambandan recently”, he said.
Wijenayake was addressing a special press briefing held at the JNP
Headquarters yesterday. He said that all people of the country should
assist to defeat separatism in the country.
“As one of the political parties in Sri Lanka we request the
government not to hold any kind of discussions with the TNA because they
are attempting to put the government and the country into trouble.
Sambandan has clearly said that if they do not receive an internal
self governing method, they are going to have an external governing
system with the assistance of international community”, he further said.
“The TNA is talking about various things including the 13th amendment as
tips for having a self governing method. The JNP has urged the
government not to hold any discussion with the TNA till Sambandan
withdraws his statement” Wijenayake said.
