Buddhist panel discussion

The next Buddhist Panel Discussion of the Colombo YMBA will be held at its Borella building on Mindfulness of Bodily Actions and Feelings on June 17 at 10.00 am. The Panelists are Prof Raja de Alwis, former Prof of Civil Engineering, University of Moratuwa, and Dr Kosala de Silva, Consultant Physician, with Rajah Kuruppu as Moderator.


Cumaratunga death anniversary

The inaugural ceremony of a series of functions organized by the Cumarathunga Foundation to commemorate the 125th death anniversary of Sinhala Scholar Cumaratunga Munidasa will be held at Dickwella Cumarathunga Munidasa Navodya School on June 15 at 7.45 am. Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena will be the chief guest.


Provincial flag launching ceremony

A ceremony to launch the North Central Provincial Rural Development Flag, Logo and the song will be held today at 9.30 am at the Anuradhapura Provincial Cooperative and Rural Development Ministry under the patronage of Governor Karunaratna Divulgame and Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake.


Guest Houses sans licence

Ariyapala WANSATHILAKE- Kurunegala Central Special

Most guest houses in the Kurunegala Municipal limit have not obtained licence for 2012. Some are not in proper condition for the visitors to stay and engaged in various types of illegal activities.

Two guest houses at Madamegama were raided by police last week and three prostitutes were taken into custody.


Banking for non bankers

A seminar organized by the Association of Professional Bankers - Sri Lanka, jointly with The Organisation of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA) on Banking for Non Bankers will be held today at 6 pm at the OPA Auditorium, The Professional Centre, 275/75 Prof. Stanley Wijesundera Mawatha, Colombo 7.


Trap gun kills one

A toddy tapper from Vadamarachchy East accidentally trampled a trap gun set to kill wild boars lost both legs and succumbed to his injuries at Jaffna Teaching hospital. He was identified as Dharmalingham Pratheepan of Mulliyan Kovil.


1/SLLI ex-Signallers Get together

The 20th Get- together of the ex-Signallers of the 1st Battalion the Sri Lanka Light Infantry will take place at the residence of D.S. Wijesooriya at No. 302, Mandawala Road, Malamulla, Panadura on June 17 commencing at 10 a.m.


Special Meeting of MLC PPA Bambalapitiya

A Special Meeting of Muslim Ladies' College, Bambalapitiya Past Pupils' Association will be held on June 16 at 10 am at the College Hall, under the patronage of the Principal, Dr Hajjan Manzoor.

All past pupils who attended the school are requested to be present.

Asoka Mahinda Jayasinghe will deliver a public talk in English on 'Detailed exposition of Right View and Wrong View' at the meeting of the Servants of the Buddha Society on Saturday 16 at 4.30 pm in Maithree Hall, Lauries Road, Bambalapitiya.
