What the gale did in Mirigama

Over 85 houses and buildings were damaged following strong winds in several parts of the island yesterday morning and Tuesday night, Disaster Management Centre Deputy Director Sarath Lal Kumara said.

He said Polhena and Yatiyana in Matara, Ambalantota in Hambantota and Mirigama in Gampaha were affected by strong winds. No casualties were reported.

Meanwhile, Hambantota DMC Coordination Unit Assistant Director Harsha Ravindra said over 30 houses were damaged due to strong winds in Hungama, Hambantota around 10pm on Tuesday.
