World Environment Day 2012 focuses on Green Economy

World Environment Day 2012 is to be celebrated tomorrow under the theme”Green Economy : Does it Include You”. The national ceremony to mark this day is to be held at Royal College, Colombo 7 from 9.30am onwards tomorrow .

Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa, Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena, Environment Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Environment Deputy Minister Abdul Cadar will participate in this event as special guests.

The UN Environment Programme defines the Green Economy as one that results in improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly reducing environmental risks and ecological scarcities.
