‘Lassana Hakmana’ National Poson Zone from June 5

‘Lassana Hakmana’ National Poson Zone will be held in Hakmana, Matara from June 5 to 9 under the patronage of Economic Development Deputy Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardane.

Addressing media yesterday at the Hakmana Divisional Secretariat, Minister Abeywardane said under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, development has reached the villages. As a developing city, the people of Hakmana have benefited from the massive development drive in the country.

The minister also said that the annual Jayasumanarama Viharaya perahera will be conducted for the 75th time on June 5 with the participation of 12 elephants and 1,500 dancers.

This perahara was gazetted by the government as a national pageant. The perahera will start at 6 pm.

Cultural shows, Amisa Poojas, pandals, dansals,etc. will also be included in the Poson Zone. A special traffic plan will be in operation from June 5 to 9. Sathpaththini Yagaya, a special cultural programme organized by the Cultural Affairs Ministry will be held on June 9.

The event is organized by the Presidential Secretariat, Cultural Affairs Ministry, Matara District Secretary, Hakmana Divisional Secretary and Hakmana Eksath Welada Sangamaya president.

Chief Incumbent of the Jayasumanarama Viharaya Ven. Diviyagaha Gnanananda Thera, Media Ministry Secretary W.B.Ganegala, Hakmana Divisional Secretariat Chairman C.H.Halpage, Coordinating Secretary to the President Saman Dissanayake and others participated in the occasion.
