From the frying pan to the fire

A man who tried to bribe policemen to get two suspects held for transporting cattle without a valid licence released, was arrested by the police. The two suspects were arrested while inside a lorry transporting 22 head of cattle without a valid licence in Nikawaratiya on Sunday morning.

Another man inside the lorry tried to bribe the policemen with Rs 25,000 to obtain the release of the two arrested men. All three suspects were to be produced before court.
