Litter bags for Poson pilgrims

The Anuradhapura Municipal Council will introduce a special bag for
Poson pilgrims visiting Anuradhapura to collect their litter and dispose
them methodically, Municipal Commissioner Sampath Rohana Dharmadasa
said.
He said under the programme, everyone visiting the city will be
provided with a litter bag to be carried by them to collect all litter
and dump it into dustbins placed in various venues without throwing left
over food and other litter haphazardly in the city.
The distribution of these bags will be made at the 13 vehicle parks
in the city for transporting pilgrims.
Rs one million for road development

The Ambagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha will develop the access road to the
market division of the Shannon estate in Hatton.
The Economic Development Ministry granted Rs 1 million for this.
Meanwhile, the public lavatory at the Watawala bazaar maintained by
the Ambagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha is in a state of disrepair.

A retired Army captain died when his motor bicycle collided with an
Army truck at Panagoda along the Borella-Godagama road.
Janaka Upali Loolbadduwa of Watareka, Padukka, a father of four died
in the accident.
CPC to initiate canned fish industry

The Central Provincial Agriculture, Irrigation, Animal Productions
and Health, Fresh Water Fisheries and the Environment ministry will
produce canned fish from fresh water fish.
The provincial ministry has earmarked Rs 7 million for this.

10,000 by theMatara Chief Magistrate Udesh Ranatunga.

Twenty-nine fisheries organizations in the Central Province received
fishing boats and fishing nets from the Central Provincial Council
recently.
The distribution ceremony was held at the Central Provincial
Agriculture, Irrigation, Animal Productions and Health, Fresh Water
Fisheries and the Environment Ministry under the patronage of Provincial
Minister Nimal Piyatissa.
Members of 29 fisheries organizations are involved in fisheries
activities in the Kandy, Matale and Nuwara Eliya districts.

A wild elephant fallen into a Mahaweli irrigation canal called Z-D
Ela drowned despite a rescue operation launched by Wildlife Conservation
Department officials.
The elephant, stranded in a current in the canal drowned.

Seven year old Tharushi Himaya Nawalage of 155, Dippitigoda Road,
