Two Pakistani delegations visit Sri Lanka
Two high level Pakistani delegations are currently visiting Sri
Lanka. The first comprises nine members and is headed by the
Parliamentary Secretary and Member of Parliament Ms Robina Saadat
Qaimkhani.

The delegation arrived in Sri Lanka to represent Pakistan at the
South Asia Follow up Regional Consultation on the UN Study on Violence
against Children. The event is jointly organized by the government of
Sri Lanka and the Secretariat of the South Asia Initiative to end
Violence against Children (SAIEVAC).
Members of the delegation include Shaigan Shareef Malik, Secretary to
the Ministry of Human Rights and Ms Jahanara Watoo, Government of
Pakistan’s Goodwill Ambassador for Orphan Children. Representatives from
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, India, Maldives, Pakistan and
Sri Lanka will participate in the event with the aim to overcome
violence against children in homes, schools and society.
Another three member delegation headed by the Chairman Intellectual
Property Organization (IPO) of Pakistan Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi arrived
in the island yesterday for a 3 day visit.
Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi will represent Pakistan at WIPO Regional
Forum on Intellectual Property (IP) and Environmentally Sound
Technologies (ESTs).
He will attend the SAARC Roundtable on Sub-Regional Cooperation on
Use of IP for Development and Acquisition of ESTs.
The event is organized by the World Intellectual Property
Organization (WIPO) in cooperation with National Intellectual Property
Office Sri Lanka (NIPOS) and Japan Patent Office (IPO).
In addition to Pakistan, delegates from Afghanistan, Bhutan, China,
Iran, Indonesia, Maldives, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Thailand, Japan
and Vietnam will participate in the deliberations.
