Special treatment packages for journalists, artistes

The Board of directors at Sri Jayawardenepura General Hospital has decided to improve and streamline the services provided to its patients.

Addressing a the media-briefing at the hospital broad room yesterday, Sri Jayawardenepura General Hospital’s chairman M.M.N.D Bandara said plans are afoot to introduce special treatment packages for journalists, artistes and other prominent figures in the country within the next two months as an initial step of the new services.

“We will present the proposed medical package for the approval of the Health Ministry and the Treasury after obtaining the approval of hotel’s director board.

The hospital currently provides high quality health care services at a low cost for patients. Sri Jayawardenepura General hospital’s director Dr.S.A.K.Gamage said that the hospital provides free medical treatment for the clergy.

Only Rs.100 will be charged from patients who visit clinics and consultants will provide free treatment.

Consultant Surgeon Dr. Lalitha Piyarisi said the hospital comprises 1,040 beds, 37 specialists, 12 operating theaters and world class medical specialists.
