Judge disallows enjoining order on GMOA

District Court Judge Amal Ranaraja yesterday disallowed the enjoining order recently imposed on the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) restraining a proposed strike based on an issue connected with a travel allowance.

When the case was taken up, attorney at law M Sivendran appearing for the GMOA submitted that the plaintiff Ajith Senaka, a resident of Veluwannapura, Colombo 9 had sought treatment at a government hospital.

He had disappeared from the hospital while receiving treatment. He had been driven by political motives, Sivendran said.

Senaka had deceptively obtained the enjoining order against the proposed GMOA strike which had been called off, he said.

The GMOA is initiating action to claim Rs 25 milliom from him.

Attorney at law Faiszer Musthapha appeared for the plaintiff.
