Nearly 2.5 m Poson devotees expected

The Maha Sangha led by Atamasthanadhipathi Ven Pallegama Siriniwasa Nayake Thera and the Mihintale Raja Maha Viharadhipathi have requested devotees visiting Anuradhapura and Mihintale during Poson to act with responsibility, discipline and religious devotion without causing hindrance or humiliation to others.

Nearly 2.5 million devotees are expected in Anuradhapura and Mihintale during the Poson season.They said the government has declared the week beginning June 1 as Poson Week.

The 2012 Poson festival theme is ‘Harmony through equanimity’. It is clearly evident that the preliminary cause for the increase of crimes such as murder and robbery is haste which stimulate the feelings of hatred desire and gaining by hook or by crook.”
