Fusion of classicism and modernism

Dancing is his passion and classicism is what he believes in. Being
the youngest Sri Lankan Bharata Natyam Guru, Ranjana Chathuranga
Sooriyabandara does even better than most senior dancers. He is
dedicated to dancing and has achieved a vast reputation through Bharata
Natyam.
His next dancing show, ‘Nruthya Ranjana Narthana Pooja Rangabhisheka
Mangalyaya 2012’, will be held at Gampaha Lumbini Hall on May 26 at 5
pm.
This evening will be a shining one full of classism and modernism of
dancing. Making the evening more valuable, Smt. Vasanthakumari
Suriyakumaran, the Directress of Bharata Shethra Netyalayam London –
Academy of Fine Arts UK will participate.
The dancing show will consist of many traditional Bharata Natyam and
creative dancing items too.

Traditional Bharata Natyam, creative dances, eastern and western
dances will make a mesmerizing dancing combination to please eyes and
aesthetic hearts of the audience.
Ranjana has followed his dancing studies in India where he further
excelled his instinct dancing capability. Smt. Vasanthakumari
Suriyakumaran was his teacher, who has taught him Bharata natyam to get
a perfect performer out of him. He has formulated his dancing career
into a profession through her guidance where he respects traditional
values. Basil Mihiripanna is the Ballet teacher of Ranjana. He has
trained Ranjana to a complete dancer who performs well before any
audience. Now he has his own dance academy, the Bharatha Nruthya Ranjana
Kala Nikethanaya.
Its branches are in Kurunegala, Mawanella, Gampaha and Colombo,
Ranjana’s sole purpose is to contribute his maximum to develop the
dancing sector of the country and he especially focuses on Bharata
Natyam. He tries hard to protect the tradition while making creative
dances as well.
He does not keep his skills within himself, but he teaches a lot of
students who are interested in dancing and try to make them perfect
dancers. |
