Sea plane aerodrome opens today

It would be an important day for the Sri Lanka aviation sector today when the country's first sea plane aerodrome is commissioned at the Dandugama Oya in Ja Ela. The investment for the project was undertaken by the Ministry of Economic Development while the construction was carried out by the Western Province Road Development Authority. The facility would have three docking bays, passenger terminal, long timer pier and a large parking area even to accommodate large tourist buses. A new concrete road too has been laid and passenger waiting rooms have been built to international standers.

The airdrome would open to both SriLankan air taxies and other private operators and it has the facility to accommodate both sea planes and float planes. Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa and Minister of Aviation, Priyankara Jayaratne will open this facility.
