Benefit show
The Alumni of the University of Ceylon, Peradeniya 1960-1969, will
screen veteran filmmaker G D L Perera’s Lakshmi, Maya and Sugath at the
Sausiripaya, Wijerama Road, Colombo 7 tomorrow at 6pm to help the needy
undergraduates of the Peradeniya University, it being their foremost
priority. GDL who has won awards for his films and stage plays including
the Sarasaviya Film Festival’s coveted Best Director’s award for Dahasak
Sithuvili, will screen his latest film Lakshmi, Maya and Sugath as a
benefit show for the Alumni.
Some of the actors and actresses will also attend the screening.
Building opening
The building where the weekly divi neguma fair will be conducted in
Minuwangoda will be opened today. The ceremony will be held under the
patronage of Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa.
The Economic Development had spent Rs 110 million for the
construction of the building.
SJC OBU Family Mass
The monthly Family Mass organised by St Joseph’s College Old Boys
Union will be held tomorrow at 8.15am followed by fellowship and
breakfast.
All Old Joes and their families are invited.
CPC helps develop schools
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation will help develop nine selected
schools covering eight provinces at a cost of Rs 18 million with the
contribution of fuel distributors.
A press release by the Petroleum Industries Ministry said this is a
social welfare service undertaken by the CPC to mark its 50th
anniversary on the direction of Minister Susil Premajayantha and Deputy
Minister Roshan Pitipane. |
