Warrants issued for evading courts

Panadura Magistrate R. S. A. Dissanayaka issued warrants on ten accused, including a woman who were evading court for charges filed against them for misappropriation of money amounting to Rs. 200 lakhs.

They are alleged to have obtained the money from 25 youths promising them employment in Canada, Korea, Italy, Australia and the Middle East countries. On receipts of complaints against the accused, the Panadura Police Special Crimes and Fraud Bureau filed action against the accused.

The magistrate also issued notices on the sureties in these cases and postponed hearing for July 12.
