Nalanda tame St. Sylvester’s

Nalanda College Colombo beat St. Sylvester’s College 24 (Three goals
and a penalty) to 19 (Two goals and a try) in their Singer League Rugby
group B division one match played at Air Force Grounds Ratmalana
yesterday.
Nalandians were leading with a total of 14 points at the end of the
first half with two tries scored by Bodhaka Jeewantha and Asanka
Maduranga which were successfully converted by Kasun Jayanath. St.
Sylvestrians started to gain points with the help of a try scored by
Danuka Wijethilake which was converted by himself. At half time,
Sylvesterians’ score read seven.
Both teams were playing very well, fighting hard to score points and
it was a thrilling match for the spectators.
St.Sylvester’s College fought hard at second half time to dominate
the game. Prasad Aravinthan contributed with two tries while his second
try was converted by Danuka Wijeratne to add 12 more points to the
Sylvetstrian total in the second half.
Nalandians, with their strong and dynamic attack, managed to pose a
strong threat to the Kandyan lads. A try by full back Dilip Ruwanwella,
converted by Kasun Jayanath and a penalty by Jayanath lifted their total
to 19 at the end of the second half. A.C.Tennakoon referred. |
