Home gardens found wanting

Many home gardens coming under the Divi Neguma programme have not been fully utilized by the owners to cultivate as expected. This has been revealed by a survey conducted by the Economic Development Ministry recently, Divi Neguma Director Jayathilake Herath said.

"Therefore, the Ministry will provide plant necessities free of charge to fulfil all short comings in home gardens," he said.

Under this programme the Economic Development Ministry has drawn up plans to establish food stability during this year. While seeking solutions to problems in each district relating to the Divi Neguma programme, he said. The ministry has drawn up plans to activate a proper programme that goes beyond the order of circulars, he said.
