Students hospitalised after assault by lady principal

Two students attached to a school in Gampola were admitted to Gampola hospital after being allegedly assaulted by the Principal.

They are Imantha Abeykoon (13), a grade 8 student and Bhanuka Prabath Premachandra, a grade 6 student.

Imantha's father Sarath Abeykoon alleged that the principal had assaulted the students on a complaint made by a neighbour over a personal dispute in the village without conducting an investigation.

Principal Mrs M P Wijeratne said she hit the students because they came to argue with her during an inquiry on a disciplinary matter.
