Indian Army VB team plays against Sri Lanka Army
The visiting Indian Army Volleyball team played an exhibition
volleyball match against Sri Lanka Army Volleyball team in Colombo on
Thursday and they will play their second match in Kahawatte today.
Today's match will be played at Kahawatte Public Grounds, commencing
at 3.00 p.m. The event is organized by Provincial Council member
Kanchana Jayaratna with the Ratnapura District Volleyball association.
Technology and Research Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Power and
Energy Deputy Minister Premalal Jayasekara will be the guests of honour
at the opening ceremony.
Provincial Council member Kanchana Jayaratna was successful in
getting the Indian Army Volleyball team to play one of the two matches
they are playing in Sri Lanka to Kahawatte. "This is the first time
after 20 years a foreign volleyball team is playing in the Ratnapura
District. He said it is a big achievement to be able to get the Indian
Army team to play in Kahawatte. The Indian Army team is regarded as one
of the best volleyball teams in Asia while the Sri Lanka Army team is
also a strong competitor hence a keen contest can be expected at
Kahawatte on Saturday," Jayaratna said.
He further said that Ratnapura District Volleyball Association has
made all arrangements to conduct a successful event at Kahawatte. |
