Horticulturist's triple triumphs

Horticulturist, Sita Kumari Ratnaike a Diriya Matha of Janitha Gardens in Mahingoda close to the Eheliyagoda town has established a record in the Ratnapura District by winning the first place thrice continuously at the home gardening competition organized by the Agriculture Department.

She won the first place in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and several first places at different home gardening and decorative plant cultivation fields. Horticulture stalls displaying her products could be seen at almost all self-employment based exhibitions in the Eheliyagoda area from time to time.

"I do not use any chemically prepared harmful fertilizer varieties, instead I use a variety of fertilizer prepared by my husband and me using dried cowdung, dried leaf particles, and coconut fibre" she said.
