UN Chief appoints Japanese, Bangladesh, Kenyan deputies
UN Chief Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday named Japanese, Bangladesh and
Kenyan officials to key positions in the team for his second
five-year-term.
Ban appointed Yukio Takasu, a former Japanese ambassador to the
United Nations and United States, as under-secretary for management.
Takasu will take a leading role in efforts to trim the UN budget and
reform the global body's management. Ameerah Haq of Bangladesh was named
under secretary general for the Department of Field Support which helps
to find peacekeepers and equip them. AFP
