According to villagers, the treasure belonging to Prince Weediya Bandara, was located at Kakulaliya Grama Sewa division in the Ingiriya Divisional Secretariat in a land owned by the Board of Investment, Horana.

Four illegal blasts had occurred from April 19 to 25, and villagers said a number of outsiders came during the night. Villagers had complained to Ingiriya Divisional Secretary, Champa Upasena about the illegal blast of the rock. The Divisional Secretary and Additional Divisional Secretary, Samanthika P Liyanage together with OIC, Ingiriya police, Udaya Kumara and officers of Special Task Force, Horana investigated.

Upasena said she informed about the treasure to the Department of Archaeology and the National Heritage Ministry.
