A'pura tops in paddy purchasing

The highest paddy harvest of 19,687 metric tones has been purchased
from the Anuradhapura district for the Maha season.
Co-operatives and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando told the
Daily News that the quantity of paddy purchased from Ampara and
Polonnaruwa districts was 16,000 metric tonnes and 15,856 metric tons
respectively.
Meanwhile, the Paddy Marketing Board (PMD) has purchased the highest
paddy harvest during the Maha season this year for the first time in Sri
Lankan history," minister Fernando said.
The board purchased 81,000 metric tons of paddy during the Maha
season spending Rs 2,281 million. |
