Dengue Control Week: May 14- 20

Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena has declared a national Dengue Control Week from May 14 to 20 considering the rapidly increasing dengue mosquito density in the country due to the rains.

The Environmental Police Units will take legal action against all property owners who neglect to rid their properties of dengue breeding spots, a Health Ministry spokesperson said. According to the spokesperson, legal action has already been taken against persons by the Environmental Police Units without considering their position or status.

The law will be strictly implemented against all dengue mosquito breeders.
