President pays homage to War Heroes' memorial statue

President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is on a four day official visit to South Korea paid homage to War Heroes' memorial statue in Dongjak-gu, Seoul yesterday morning.

This memorial statue was erected in 1956 in remembrance of Korean war heroes deceased in the Korean Freedom Movement, 1950 war and Vietnam war. Deceased Korean war heroes and leaders were buried in this place and paying homage to this memorial has been a tradition of visiting state leaders visiting the country.

The President was welcomed by Seoul National War Memorial Head Jeong Jin Tae. The President also signed the guest book. First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, External Affairs Minister Prof G L Peiris, Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister Dullas Alahapperuma, MPs Namal Rajapaksa, Nishantha Muthuhettigama, Sani Rohana and Roshan Ranasinghe also participated in this event.
