Act goes wrong for Brazilian actor
A Brazilian actor playing Judas was seriously
injured on Saturday when he accidently hanged himself during a Bible
scene in which his character commits suicide after betraying Jesus,
a report said. The actor, identified as Tiago Klimeck, apparently
confused which cord he should use, and remained hanging for several
minutes during a performance of The Passion of Christ in the city of
Itarare, police told news website G1.

Pakistan President makes rare trip to India
President Asif Ali Zardari became the first
Pakistani head of state since 2005 to visit India on Sunday for a
one-day trip he described as “very fruitful” in improving ties
between the rivals. During a visit billed as private but of great
diplomatic significance, Zardari lunched with Indian Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh and invited him to visit Pakistan. The meeting has
received a cautious welcome from analysts who see it as another sign
of improving relations between the bitter neighbours, but the issue
of Pakistani militant activity against India remains deeply
problematic.

China, Japan, S.Korea in talks ahead of N Korea rocket
The foreign ministers of China, Japan and South
Korea met Sunday in the Chinese city of Ningbo for talks on regional
security and cooperation days ahead of a planned North Korean rocket
launch. Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, Japan’s Koichiro Gemba
and South Korea’s Kim Sung-Hwan posed for photographers before
starting talks in the eastern city near Shanghai.

Taiwan President makes surprise India transit
Taiwan’s President Ma Ying-jeou on Sunday made a
surprise stopover in Mumbai on his way to Africa in what officials
said was a sign of improving ties with India despite a lack of
diplomatic recognition. Ma had kept tight-lipped about the two-hour
refuelling stop in India until he departed Taipei late Saturday for
his first trip to Africa since he was elected in 2008. The three-leg
trip will take Ma to Burkina Faso, Gambia and Swaziland.
