Windies make Australia pay for missed opportunities

A slow Kensington Oval pitch and a number of dropped catches helped the West Indies build a solid start against Australia on the opening day of the first Test on Saturday. When rain curtailed the day, the home side were 179 for 3 with the backbone of the score being a century second wicket partnership between Kraigg Brathwaite and Kirk Edwards.

Trinitians win T20 crown

A quick and unbeaten knock of 49 runs, which came in just 34 deliveries, by Trinity’s opening batsman Janishka Premasinghe powered their way to grab the Schools under-19 Twenty20 title when they defeated St Peters’ College, Bambalapitiya by 12 runs according to the Duckworth and Lewis method in a rain affected final played at CCC grounds yesterday.
