Life saving awareness for students, teachers

An awareness programme on 'life saving and preventing drowning incidents' was conducted by Life savers of Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLGC) for 600 students and teachers recently.

Students of Maria Maha Vidyalaya Usvetakeiyyawa, Don Bosco College, Palliyawatta and Shrasthraloka Vidyalaya in Dikowita attended the programme with teachers.

The event is a continuous awareness programmes conducted regularly by SLCG as a community base activity aiming to minimise drowning incidents in Sri Lanka.

It is reported that nearly 1,000 drown annually in Sri Lanka due to negligence and lack of safety awareness.
