Website to benefit Korean job seekers
Atapattu Bandara
Korean job seekers who passed the recently held Korean Language
Proficiency Test can check their details and employment agreements on
website www.eps.go.kr from today onwards.
The job seeker should open an email account given in the website and
receive information on job agreements provided by the Korean Human
Resources Centre. The applicant will get a PIN number with which he will
be able to access the website.
This programme was a concept of Foreign Employment Minister Dilan
Perera to ensure all Korean job seekers are treated without
discrimination and no injustice will occur during the selection process.
The transparent system allows all applicants to receive information
on their personal progress.
The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau (SLFEB)urges the public not
to be misguided by intermediary agents who promise job opportunities for
money.
The Bureau warns that the PIN is non transferable as an applicant is
entitled to one PIN.
According to the SLFEB, 9,998 passed the Korean Language Proficiency
Test held in October 2011 and of whom 5,000 have left for jobs. Priority
will be given to those who have passed the exam in 2010 and are still
unemployed.
Around 25,000 Sri Lankans are employed in Korea. The recruitment
process is carried out through an inter-governmental agreement, the
sources said.
