An evening of exceptional talent

A Kandyan dance

Dance items

It was a gigantic effort by the staff of St. John’s Nugegoda and the boys. On the 17th of February St. John’s College Nugegoda put forth a stellar performance regaling the crowd consisting of parents, well wishers and staff. The musical items and the drama left no doubt in the minds of the audience that the performances were well rehearsed and a lot of effort was put into it.

The African dance could not have been done better. It was almost perfect.

The young boys dressed like African tribesmen played their part well with their lithe young bodies moving to the beat of the drums. The make up was well done and it was all quite entertaining.

The drama item certainly had the audience in peals of laughter with a young boy playing the part of a lady.

A devil dance

Unfortunately It actually came across as rather lewd with his attire coming loose.

The young lady in front of me had her hand on her forehead laughing helplessly. It was a slap stick performance, the dialog was at certain points was a little difficult to grasp.

Another dance item was one that featured the boys in tuxedoes. This act was especially impressive because it was a well coordinated team effort, with the boys giving it hundred percent. I was amazed at how untiring and assiduous they were.

The young man on the drums must have had blisters on his hands.

All dance items were very imaginative. The clothing which was enhanced by the lighting was very colorful and the design was quite eye catching.

The dance routine and step arrangement was very meticulous and the stage management was beyond reproach. In a nutshell the choreography was fine.

Principal Major GPB Liyangaskumbura should be very proud of his boys. They delivered a very professional performance.
