The world has become a universal village, the knowledge of English
has become the most essential aspect in order to achieve national goals.
To achieve this the Sri Lanka Air Force conducted a competition amongst
its members to stress the importance of the value of English and to
inspire people to learn English at Diyathalawa Sri Lanka Air force
recently.
The English Language Day competitions were conducted from February 14
to 16 under the guidance of Group Captain Janaka Amerasinghe and this
was followed by the 'Grand Finale' on Feb 29. The Chairperson of the Sri
Lanka Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit Neelika Abeywickrama graced the
occasion as the chief guest and
Director Training Air Vice Marshal K Yahampath and Director Dental
Service Air Vice Marshal AMB Amunugama witnessed the event as guests of
honour. The Internationally renowned film star Anoja Weerasinghe headed
the panel of judges.
Sri Lanka Air Force Diyatalawa was filled with glamour and colourful
of newly found Air Force stars on the evening of the 29th.
The most
significant event of the evening was no doubt was the performance of
Officer Cadet Wijewansha IKMP who represented SLAF Station Diyatalawa in
the newly introduced completion the ‘Tongue twister’. The colourful and
interesting evening ended with all those who attended declaring that it
was an event which was indeed a effort worthwhile repeating in the years
to come. |
