Expo 2012 ends with high expectations

Sri Lanka Expo 2012, the four day mega trade, investment and tourism exhibition concluded on Saturday.The well organized event was a huge success and the country could witness positive results in time to come, Sri Lanka Export Development Board Chairman and CEO Janaka Ratnayake told Daily News Business.

'There had been serious buyers and trade inquiries to boost the local export sector while there were opportunities for investment in different sectors,' he said.

'The enthusiasm shown by the delegates augurs well for the country’s trade sector and the country could expect more export volumes and revenue generation in future. Expo 2012 was a platform to heighten international business community confidence and create B2B linkages where it showcased extensive capabilities under one roof.

The direct impact could be felt in the near future and the quantifying of the monetary gain could be finalized over a period of time.

‘The country is geared to move forward in the export sector and we are certain that this will enable surpassing the target set for 2012,’ Ratnayake said.
