With everything growing in the industry you find that everyday
something new is added to keep in pace and place with others. The one
such market that grabs the people from around the country and around the
world is the Radio. No matter where you are...you can listen to it from
your car, your phone, home, another country and enjoy your favourite RJs
spinning some great tracks to keep your day running smooth and fix your
moods.
Every station has a goal - that is give the best to its listeners in
every manner possible. As music is what brings people together one knows
that through music you can get a message cross and get people thinking
just like that.
One station that is making its waves through the younger and older
generations these days is Everlasting Radio 97 fm and as they say - it's
more than just entertainment. The station was launched in December 2011
and is a part of MJF Media Network (Merrill J Fernando).
"Our target group is from 25 years and above and we are not looking
at boring adults with younger generation music", MJF Media Head of
Commercial Affiars Mahmood Ulhaq said at a small gathering of the media.
For us everyday is special and we have begun to add a one hour
special of disco music, with some jazz and we will be introducing some
Christian music, Mahmood added. They play a selection of some beautiful
classical hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s with a mix of Jazz, Rock,
Country, classical, blues and soul that is enjoyed by the generation of
today as well. With a line up of some of the leading RJs who have been
in the industry and know how to grab their audience - the station sets
up various shows touching several topics that are the highlights of the
world in this era.
"We are very much heavy online through Facebook and Twitter," Mahmood
further added.
The station has a special line up of events and promotions ahead
which will commence in the weeks to come. Everlasting radio 97fm is said
to make a difference with its goal and mission of being a socially
encouraging media selection. They plan to introduce a morning show
called the Colombo Diary where they will be talking about the happenings
in Colombo - where to go, what to see and what to do.
Plans are been made to move the station into Sinhala broadcasting in
three months time and then hopefully into Tamil by the end of this year. |
