Employable skill key element for youth employment

The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Miani Technical Institute of Batticaloa joined forces to provide National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) to 55 young women and men in Batticaloa District.

The annual certificate awarding ceremony for graduates was held recently with Donglin Li - Country Director of ILO Country Office for Sri Lanka and the Maldives as the chief guest.

"The ILO is working towards decent employment for youth of the country and attainment of employable skills is the key element for youth employment and the decent work. I urge training providers to adapt their training programmesto provide quality training leading to decent employment opportunities." said Li in his address.

55 graduates received their NVQ Level 04 certificates.
