Sokians reign supreme at All Island TT Championships

Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda dominated the all island schools
Table Tennis Championship by winning both the under 19 girls and boys
A Division Championships organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Table
Tennis Association and worked off at the St. Thomas College Indoor
Stadium, Mount Lavinia.
In the boys A Division finals Dharmasoka College defeated their
home town rivals Devananda College 3-0 to retain the title for another
year.
In the girls under 19 finals Dharmasoka College beat Musaeus College,
Colombo 3 - 2 after a grim battle.
The winning of the plum by the paddlers from Dharmasoka College
clearly shows their dominance in this sport. Over the past few months
their paddlers have shown excellent form at the Central Province Open
championship, Ashok Melwani Memorial Championship, Junior National
Championship and the Senior National Championship.
Winning both the A Division in the under 19 age group category is
great achievement is a clear sign of their dominance in this sport. Two
of their paddlers fifteen year old Tharaki and 18 year old Erandi
Warusawitharne who became runner up both in the Junior and Senior
National Championships are in the womens national team having toured
Hong Kong for the 20th Asian Championship last month and are also in the
national team for the World Table Tennis Championship to be held in
Germany later this month.
Vidyartha College, Kandy another school which is coming up in table
tennis won the boys under 14 A Division championship by defeating
Dharmasoka College 3 1 in the finals. They also won the boys under 19
B Division championship with a 3 0 win over Richmond
College, Galle B 3 0 in the finals.
The Girls under 14 A Division title was won by Visakha Vidyalaya,
Colombo with a 3 -1 win over Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, A in the
finals.
Dharmasoka College girls also went on to win the girls under 19 B
Division title by defeating Malilyadeva Balika Vidyalaya A 3 0 in
the finals.
