LLRC report implementation must ensure unitary state - Anunayakes
Asela Kuruluwansa
The two Anunayakes of the Malwatta and Asgiriya chapters have
declared that whatever challenges we are confronted with, when trying to
implement the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC)Report,
what has to be implemented is only the exclusive proposals that ensure
the unitary status and national harmony of the country.
Some of the political parties in this country are of the opinion that
the American proposals brought before the Human Rights Council are
implemented immediately. This is not acceptable, the two Anunayake
Theras of the Siyam Maha Nikaya Asgiriya Sect Most. Ven.Thalangama Sri
Aththadassi Thera and Malwatte Sect Anunayaka Most Ven. Pushpa Niyangoda
Sri Vijithasiri Thera categorically stated. The two Anunayakes also
state that before the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission
report is implemented, a referendum will have to be held.
"The peace enjoyed by the public has to be preserved at any cost in
view of the critical thirty years of horrorible experiences undergone by
the people of this country more than any other country in the world" the
Anunayake Theras said. They both vehemently state that no one could
surpass the majority opinion of this country and a detailed discussion
on this matter outside politics is of vital importance. |
