Janishka Premasinghe of Trinity College, Kandy, became the first
bowler from Kandy to capture 100 wickets and he achieved this feat when
playing against Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa in the second innings.
Janishka Premasinghe a right arm off spinner is one of the top
allrounders to come out of Trinity College. He is not only a fine
batsman who opens the innings and often he has been called upon to bowl
when they opt to open with a spinner.
Last year Janishka Premasinghe captured 77 wickets and scored 400
runs and was awarded the Cricket Lion by the College. This year he has
done even better by capturing 106 wickets and scoring 521 runs.
His father late Susil Premasinghe played as a wicketkeeper batsman
for Trinity College from 1984 to 1986 before his untimely death last
year. Father and son have the unique record of being members of Trinity
College's Big Match winning team in 1986 (father) and son (2012). |
