Jaffna's major reservoirs renovated

The Economic Development Ministry has implemented a programme to
renovate nine major reservoirs in the Jaffna district under the Uthuru
Vasanthaya Development Project, Economic Development Ministry Additional
Secretary Nihal Somaweera said.
Rs 1,390 million has been allocated for this, he said.
The ministry has allocated Rs 200 million for Valukaiaru, Rs 100
million for Thenniyankulam, Rs 50 million for Thadchnamaruthamadu, Rs
225 million for Akathimurippu, Rs 385 million for Giants Tank, Rs 300
million Akkarayankulam, Rs 30 million for Nampankulam, Rs 50 million
Madaduwa and Rs 50 million for Pavatkulam, he said. Over 28,000 families
will benefit under these nine reservoirs.
The Economic Development Ministry has also spent Rs 76, 606 million
to renovate 33 medium scale and small scale water reservoirs in the
Jaffna district, he said. |
