Murder weapon found, say Police

The Police found a kris knife, believed to have been used to commit the murder of Ven Pitigala Jinarathana Thera and Ven Borelasgamuwa Gunarathana Thera at Kotte Rajamahavihara on Tuesday night.

The Police found the knife in a drain near Kotte Rajamahavihara on information from a suspect in custody, an ex - monk. The suspects had thrown the knife into the drain before they fled in a car.

The suspects had confessed that they committed the crime targeting to steal an invaluable antique that belonged to the temple.

Six persons are in custody.

CID and Police investigations are continuing.
