Our country eliminated terrorism and set an example to other
countries. USA cannot come to terms with this which is the main reason
for problems including the resolution at the UNHRC," Culture and the
Arts Minister T B Ekanayake said.
He was speaking at the opening ceremony of the new Cultural Center in
Ingiriya built at a cost of Rs 15.4 million. The Central government had
funded this project.
Minister Ekanayake said: "We have a rich history of over 2,600 years.
But the US history is limited to only 300 years. But we have now
forgotten our great history and traditions such as angampora. We must
revive our traditions."
"We must rethink the way we consume food and offer food to
foreigners. They do not want to eat bacon when they come here. We must
offer them our food," he added.
Good Governance and Infrastructure Facilities Minister Ratnasiri
Wickramanayake who attended the ceremony said: "We are proud of the
development of technology in our country. But some groups do not see the
positive side and are working against our country because they receive
dollars."Kalutara District Parliamentarian Vidura Wikramanayaka,
Ingiriya Divisional Secretary Champa Upasena, Ingiriya OIC Udaya Kumara,
Horana Pradeshiya Sabha Vice Chairman Ashoka Ranathunga and several VIPs
