Suspended train service to resume

The train services that had been suspended from last July to upgrade the coastal railway line between Galle and Aluthgama, will resume on March 19.

The newly constructed Galle-Aluthgama segment will be opened with the train Sagarika," which will commence from the Matara Railway station at 4.05 am and reach Aluthgama Railway station at 6.03 am on March 19.

Sri Lanka Railways Operating Superintendent L.A.R. Ratnayake, told the Daily News that the newly laid express railway line from Galle to Aluthgama, had been modernized into a high speed rail track, enabling trains to travel at over 100 kms per hour.
