President Mahinda Rajapaksa and First
Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa visited the Japanese ambassador's
official residence yesterday to participate in the first
year commemoration of the Japanese tsunami triggered by the
massive earthquake
which resulted in over 19,000 deaths on March 11, 2011. Here

Following the meetings with South
African President Jacob Zuma and South African Foreign
Minister Maite Nkoana- Mashabane, External Affairs Minister
Prof G.L. Peiris had further discussions at the Foreign
Affairs Ministry in Pretoria, South Africa with Foreign
Affairs Deputy Minister Ebrahim Ismail Ebrahim and Defence
Minister, Constitutional Affairs Minister and Chief
Negotiator with the African National Congress Roelf Meyer
appointed by former President F.W. de Klerk of South Africa.
Other officials attending the meeting included Sri Lanka’s
High Commissioner in South Africa Shehan
Ratnavale and South Africa’s High Commissioner in Sri Lanka
Geoffrey Quinton Doidge. |

function at Temple Trees on International Women’s Day on

special package was introduced
to empower and enhance the lives of Sri Lankan women who
