'Opposition trying to seize power with Western forces'
Tennakoon Kulasekara
The Opposition which cannot come to power by the ballot is trying to
seize power with the help of sinister Western forces by betraying the
President and the country to them. The people have come forward to
defeat all such conspiracies and protect the government and the hard won
freedom, said Agrarian Services and Wildlife Minister S M Chandrasena.
He was addressing a meeting after inaugurating the Dutuwewa rural
electricity scheme in the Horowpathana electorate recently.
Minister Chandrasena said the government had allocated vast funds to
develop the upper and lower Dutuwewa villages which suffered enormous
devastation at the hands of LTTE terrorists.
Development of roads, tanks, irrigation networks and water and
electricity supplies were now underway utilizing these funds. All these
projects became a reality because the government led by the President
created the necessary environment by defeating the terrorists who ruined
the country.
He said certain Western forces which could not stomach the
ignominious defeat suffered by terrorists at the hands of the Security
Forces were trying to show the needs of dissention in order to create a
situation similar to that existing in Middle East countries like Syria
and Libya. But the masses come forward to support the government by
defeating all such foreign conspiracies armed at undermining the
country.
Provincial Council member Ranjith Samarakoon and several others also
spoke. |
