US resolution must be defeated - DVJP

The time has come for people to choose between kerosene oil and motherland and decide what is more precious for them, said the Desha Vimukthi Janatha Party (DVJP) adding that the US led resolution against Sri Lanka alleging human rights violations during the last stages of the humanitarian operation should be defeated at all costs.

The DVJP in a statement issued yesterday further said through this resolution,

imperialist forces led by the US aims at world hegemony to plunder the natural resources of the Eurasian and Middle East region by spreading its neo - liberal economic strategies.

The statement signed by DVJP president Ven Galagama Dhammaransi Thera said people should realise that the ferocious nature of the one-sided foreign policy and the lightning strike policy has caused immense death and destruction to the people in Afghanistan and Iraq for which the US should be held directly responsible.

"We should not allow them to repeat what has been done in Libya, Tunisia, Syria, other Middle East countries and Sudan to our country directly or indirectly," the release said.

It said: " By threatening Iran and North Korea on charges of human rights violations and enriching uranium for military purposes. the whole world has been placed under a war threat. Therefore, all of us in the South Asian region should realise the crisis situations created in Bangladesh, the Maldives and Pakistan and unite politically to defeat all conspiracies against the motherland levelled by these foreign forces."
