Youths arrested with gajamuthu

Two youths were arrested with eight gajamuthu at Mihintale on Thursday. Police Spokesman SP Ajith Rohana said that the Mihintale Police had arrested the two suspects near the Mahakanadarawa tank. One suspect was a jailer at the Trincomalee remand prison.

The Police said the eight gajamuthu were priceless in value. The two suspects who were 22 and 23 years of age, were residents of Mihinthale and Horowpathana.

They had been arrested on a tip off, while trying to sell all the gajamuthu for Rs 800,000.The two suspects were to be produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate's Court.

The Mihintale Police are conducting further investigations. The suspects were arrested under the directions of Mihintale Police OIC, IP Sujeewa Githendra and IP Gunasekara.
