Police transfers

Police Headquarters yesterday, announced the transfer of a number of police officials, including Senior Deputy Inspectors General of Police, Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and Superintends of Police (SPs) with immediate effect, due to service requirements.

Earlier in the day, the Police Headquarters announced the appointment of Colombo DIG Anura Senanayake as Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police of the Western Province.

Former Western Province Senior DIG Ashoka Wijethilake, has been appointed new Senior DIG of the Sabaragamuwa Province, while Sabaragamuwa Senior DIG S. K. Shankar is to assume duties as Senior DIG of the Uva Province.

The transfers saw new DIGs appointed to the Special Task Force, DIG Crimes, Special Security Divisions including the Ministerial Security Division (MSD), Presidential Security Division (PSD) and the Terrorism Investigations Division (TID).

New DIGs were also appointed to Colombo, Jaffna, Ampara, Badulla, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Kilinochchi, Galle, Kurunegala, Wanni, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Hambantota and Puttalam among other areas.
